Accessibility

accessibility image - we all find information on the web in different ways

We all find information on the web in our own different ways. Cathedral Camps is dedicated to ensuring its website is accessible to people with disabilities.

Images
Every image on the site contain 'alt tags,' ensuring that people with sight disabilities can listen to a description of the pictures on the site by using a screen reader. Also, any images that demand a greater explanation have a 'long description', which means that a good idea of the content of a picture can be heard via "screen reader" technology.

Text
There are links at the top of every page to multiple text sizes with which to view the text on every page. You can also follow these links for the relevant text-size: small text [default], medium text, large text.

No text has been embedded into images, as this makes it unsizable. Some logo images, however, will incorporate text and in these cases "alt text" will be available.

The website features a text only version containing the same information as the non-text only website, and whenever changes are made to any part of the content of this website, they are reflected on the text-only site at the same time.

You can also make changes to your browser settings to make text more readable:

Internet Explorer: in the top bar go to View > Text Size
Mozilla Firefox: in the top bar go to View > Text Size
Netscape Navigator: in the top bar go to View > Text Zoom
Safari: ensure you have selected the Text Size option in the View menu. Click on the larger and smaller "A" icons on the top of the Safari window.

Hyperlinks
All text hyperlinks are understandable out of context. You will never see simply "click here". All hyperlinks follow the same convention: red text with an underline appearing when the mouse hovers over it.

Technical info
We have not used frames, and have not used any Flash. Javascripting has been used sparingly, and only in order to actually provide effective accessibility tools. There are no "pop-up windows" generated by this website.

We know there is always room for improvement. We absolutely welcome feedback on the accessibility of our site. If you know how we can improve our online service to you please email us at cathedralcamps@csv.org.uk.
