ReFresh > Wolfhampcote

Wolfhampcote Group

On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June 2009; ReFresh joined with the Churches Conservation Trust to host a weekend of volunteering at St. Peters, Wolfhampcote.

10 volunteers from the YMCA in Stoke-on-Trent travelled to the site for a camping weekend of volunteering. Most of them had volunteered the previous week at the Wentworth event in South Yorkshire, run by ReFresh and the Churches Conservation Trust. Their presence at Wolfhamcote was clearly testimony to the fact that they enjoyed their first experience of volunteering with ReFresh and the Trust.

There was a considerable amount of local interest in what we were doing at Wolfhampcote, particularly on the Sunday, when about a dozen local people and visitors took the opportunity to look around the church.  They were very supportive of the work being done by young volunteers and spent time talking with them.

Norman Taylor, the Volunteer Development Officer for the Churches Conservation Trust, oversaw the day and said: "Everyone, including me, enjoyed the weekend. The pictures I took of the young volunteers working and having fun say a lot more than I could in this report. Many thanks to Rebecca at ReFresh for her hard work".
